A surprised onlooker in Paris, filmed a shoe making a 3-point turn on a narrow street. It was a gigantic Nike shoe on wheels, with a person inside, driving it! It helped them make that 3-pointer, so maybe it was a basketball shoe. Or it could just be a running shoe, that literally runs!

A Newark New Jersey school, has kids eager to come back on the weekend. West Side High School’s Lights On program, gives students the opportunity to hang out at school, instead of on the violent streets. Principal Akbar Cook, organized activities with volunteers, and opened a laundry room. It has even improved attendance by 10%!

For the first time ever, scientists have obtained an image of a black hole. The Event Horizon Telescope captured the outline of the black hole, surrounded by an emission ring, in the center of galaxy M87. You can’t actually see a black hole; you just see the empty spot where everything got sucked in!

More people have been to the moon, than to the deepest spot in the ocean. Only 3 people have made it to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, over 36,000 feet down. The submarine had to withstand 15,750 pounds per square-inch. It’s Submarine Day, and the tiny Deepsea Challenger submarine is the only one strong enough!

A man in New York caused a commotion on Sunday, when he blocked the doors to a subway car. He was trying to get some trees on the train! The Metropolitan Transit Authority said his actions were not allowed, but I think it’s nice to see trees while traveling on an underground train!

Cthulhu, the cosmic entity created by writer HP Lovecraft, had a tentacled face, and lived in a sunken city in the Pacific Ocean. Paleontologists have discovered a fossilized relative of the sea cucumber, that looks like a smaller, less fearsome Cthulhu. It’s only 3 centimeters long! Still, with 45 armored tentacles, 430,000,000 year-old Sollasina cthulhu is impressive!

The Irish countryside looks green and beautiful. It turns out, the dirt also keeps you healthy! Soil from the Boho Highlands, in Northern Ireland’s Fermanagh, contains bacteria that can fight off four of the top superbugs. Superbugs are antibiotic-resistant bacteria, that are hard to treat. Scientists are excited to find an Irish remedy!
