James Napier bought an old car, but his kids aren’t embarrassed to get dropped off at school in it. That’s because he restored a DeLorean to look just like the time machine, from Back to the Future! He spent 1,200 hours and plenty of money, but he still can’t get the flux capacitor to work!

Imagine if school was cancelled not because of snow, but because of bears. The village of Ryrkaypiy, in Russia, has been overrun by polar bears! Unusually warm weather is bringing the bears inland to find food, instead of hunting at sea. When the ice gets thicker, they’ll move back to their normal habitat.

Archaeologists in Norway have found a 55-foot-long Viking ship in the middle of a farmer’s field. No one knew it was there, because it’s underground! They used radar to detect the buried ship. It probably holds the body of an ancient Norse leader, and is at least 1000 years old. Excavation will reveal more details.

Today is Put On Your Own Shoes Day. I think most of you already do that. If you have a baby in the house, give them a chance to put their own shoes on; they might surprise you! It’s also Microwave Oven Day. Have you ever microwaved a marshmallow? It’s really neat!

A house in Adelaide South Australia, has thousands of lights in a fantastic Christmas display. Their neighbors must have known they could never compete, or maybe they were just lazy. They took a few strands of lights and spelled the word ditto, with an arrow pointing to the extravaganza. Brilliant!

2 co-workers were at a 7-Eleven store, and one man encouraged the other to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket. The second man replied that he never won on that game, and he should buy it himself if he thought it was a winner. So he did, and it was! The first man won $30,000!

There’s never a nice crunchy apple when you want it. That’s about to change, as a new variety of apple goes on sale. The Cosmic Crisp is a sweet and super-crunchy apple, that will stay fresh for up to a year in the fridge! Plus, it doesn’t get brown quickly when you cut it.

Yesterday, a SpaceX rocket launch had to be postponed because of high winds. The good news is, you get another chance to see it today! The rocket will blast off from Florida at 12:29 pm Eastern Time, and head for the International Space Station. You can watch the launch online, at spacex.com

Let’s celebrate earth today. Not the planet Earth, but dirt. It’s World Soil Day! After you play in the dirt, you can celebrate Bathtub Party Day. Make it nice and bubbly! It’s also International Ninja Day. Move silently, and see if you can slip around unseen.

A 7-year-old boy had a surfing contest in Florida, with a shark! Actually, Chandler Moore was knocked off his surfboard, when a small blacktip shark jumped out his path, right over his board. He had a GoPro camera that recorded the incident, so he has proof that he surfs with sharks!
