America’s Top Young Scientist

14-year-old Leanne Fan, won this year’s 3M Young Scientist Challenge. Leanne developed a low-cost device, to detect and treat ear infections in children. Called Finsen Headphones, the headset uses blue light therapy, that could help prevent hearing loss in thousands of kids. The prize was $25,000, which she’ll use to patent her invention.
