Bread Like Mummy Used to Make

I’ve heard of ancient grains bread, but a gastroegyptologist took things literally. Seamus Blackley used yeast from 4500-year-old Egyptian vessels, to bake bread! Microbiologist Richard Bowman injected a nutrient solution into the ceramic vessels to reactivate the yeast, then extracted the liquid. The resulting bread was like sourdough, but sweeter.
