Even the Paint Was Preserved

107 years ago, Ernest Shackleton’s ship went down, in the Weddell Sea. The Antarctic explorer and his crew survived, but the Endurance sank and stayed undiscovered, until now. An expedition found the perfectly-preserved shipwreck 10,000 feet down, after battling blizzards, shifting sea-ice, and sub-zero temperatures. A robotic submersible took pictures, without disturbing the Endurance.
