Marking the 1,000,000th Moss

Yesterday in England, volunteers celebrated a milestone, after 10 years of plugging away. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and United Utilities, worked together to hand-plant 1,000,000 moss cuttings at the Dovestone Reservoir. Sphagnum moss improves water quality and filtration, and replanting the boglands restores habitat for birds, amphibians, and insects.
