Mountains in the Sea

Only 1/4 of Earth’s ocean floor has been mapped, but in the last few years, scientists used satellite data, to locate 19,000 new seamounts. The latest discovery is the 10,200-foot-tall Nazca Ridge. Underwater mountains are formed by volcanic activity. Some are more than 6 miles high, even taller than Mount Everest!
