The Crazy Platypus Continues to Amaze

The platypus has webbed feet and a duck’s bill, a flat tail like a beaver and venomous ankle spikes. It lays eggs, but has fur and produces milk. Now scientists have found the milk has special proteins with antimicrobial properties. Copying the ringlet-shaped proteins, nicknamed Shirley Temple curls, could produce new antibiotics.
