Tons of Tiny Tentacles

The oldest free-swimming jellyfish ever discovered, has been newly-identified by scientists. The Burgessomedusa phasmiformis, lived 500,000,000 years ago, and had a cube-like hood with 90 short tentacles. It was only about the size of a soccer ball, but likely had stinging venom to paralyze its prey. It was found in Great Britain’s Burgess Shale.
