Wild Horses Swam Ashore Hundreds of Years Ago

There’s a legend that the wild ponies of Assateague Island in Maryland, came from horses that survived a shipwreck of a Spanish Galleon. The book, Misty of Chincoteague, is based on that theory. New DNA evidence shows the legend is likely true, and that the wild horses are descended from those of Spanish explorers.
