A company called Form Energy in Maine, is building the biggest battery ever, capable of 8,500 megawatt-hours of storage. It can store the energy produced by wind and solar sources, and discharge it as needed using a process called reverse rusting. It will store enough energy to power 85,000 homes, for 100 hours.

Today is the first World Dolphin Day. Dolphins are mammals. Even though they spend their life in water, they need to breathe air. They are very intelligent, have excellent eyesight and hearing, and can make a wide range of sounds. There are 40 different species of dolphin. The Amazon River dolphin is pink!

On Cloud Appreciation Day, people from around the world look up, photograph their sky, and describe how it makes them feel, at cloudappreciationsociety.org. Share your view of the sky today, or simply take some time to watch the clouds. Look up the differences between cirrus, stratus, and cumulus clouds. What’s your favorite cloud?

Doesn’t a chocolate milkshake sound good? It’s Chocolate Milkshake Day, so treat yourself! It’s easy to make your own in a blender, with ice cream, chocolate syrup, and milk. Don’t forget to add whipped cream and a cherry! It’s also Hug And High Five Day. You’re sure to get both, by sharing your shakes!

Today is Video Games Day. Maybe you’ll get some extra screen time, to celebrate! Try playing Pong, which was the first video game invented, in 19 72. It’ll make you appreciate modern graphics. Invite your parents to play with you, but no trash talking. Since it’s also the Day of Encouragement, cheer them on instead!

A Saudi Arabian biker set a new world record, for greatest distance motorcycle wheelie held by mouth. Ahmed Othman clenched his motorcycle’s handlebars between his teeth, popped a wheelie, held his arms out for balance, and traveled more than 984 feet. The ride lasted less than a minute.

A railway line in England has 3 fuzzy new employees. The new hires are cats, named Titch, Ash, and Clinker, and their job is to keep the Grosmont Station free of mice. The black kitties were found living on the streets, so they happily exchange their mouser services for food and cozy beds.

Today is Make Your Bed Day. If your room is a mess, a nicely-made bed can be an island of calm, in a sea of clutter. If you’re already making your bed every day, like you should be, challenge yourself to make it perfectly, so it looks like a hotel bed!

24 years ago, terrorists attacked the United States, by crashing planes into buildings. 9 11 started years of war against those responsible, but it also showed the heroism of those who died, trying to save others. They’re honored today, with Patriot Day, and National Day Of Service And Remembrance.

Someone in Germany called the police, after doorbells at an apartment complex kept ringing at night. They suspected pranksters were playing ding-dong-ditch, but motion sensor cameras weren’t picking anything up. The culprit turned out to be a slug, sliming its way across the doorbell panel. The slug was safely relocated to some nearby grass.
