Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports around. It’s kind of like a cross between tennis and ping pong, played on a court. Today is Pickleball Day, so pick up an inexpensive set of paddles and balls, and give it a try. Maybe pickleball will become an event, in the next Olympics.

Sometimes you don’t try to be happy; it just happens. Celebrate Happiness Happens Day, without planning anything special. Maybe crafts make you happy. 8 8 is the Date To Create, so write a story, or create some art. It’s fun! If dessert makes you happiest, celebrate Frozen Custard Day with some creamy soft-serve deliciousness.

Meow meowey meow. It’s International Cat Day! Spend some quality time with your kitty. Maybe he can teach you to be stealthy. You’ll need it, to celebrate Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day! Some gardens produce so much squash, that it takes creativity to make sure it doesn’t go to waste.

Microplastics have been found in the human bloodstream, because we eat and drink microscopic pieces all the time. Scientists found an easy way, to remove many microplastics from drinking water. When water is boiled, plastic is trapped by minerals in the water, which can then be filtered out by pouring through a steel mesh.

It’s Raspberries And Cream Day. Pick some fresh berries and eat them with whipped cream. You can make your own whipped cream by putting heavy cream in a blender for a while, but don’t blend it too long; it’ll turn into butter! It’s also Lighthouse Day. They warn boats that land is near!

You could say today is Wednesday, but it’s more fun to say it’s Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day. Sometimes it’s hard work to get to the fun stuff, when you have to forge through hard sealed plastic, twist-ties, and toys screwed into boxes. Exclaiming, “this is particularly preposterous packaging,” can release some frustration!

For some kids, summer vacation is over, and other kids will go back to school soon. Get in a trip to the beach, for Beach Party Day. Don’t forget to bring binoculars, to scan the ocean for animals. Since it’s Sea Serpent Day, you’ll want to invite them to your beach party!

A clever dog in Texas celebrated his 4th birthday, by breaking a world record. Jerry’s talent is removing bottle caps from plastic bottles. The dachshund removed 11 bottle caps, in only one minute. Once he’d opened everyone’s drinks, he was ready to party! I hope he got more plastic bottles for his birthday.

Most fires are caused by careless humans, but a recent brush fire in British Columbia Canada, was caused by a bird. An osprey caught a fish, and flew about a mile with it before losing its grip. The fish landed on a power line, causing sparks to fly onto the dry grass below.

Have you ever been scuba diving? SCUBA stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, so I see why it needed an acronym. The first scuba gear was unveiled in France, on this day in 1926. Scuba diving made it possible for anyone with a bit of training, to explore deep under the ocean.
