A Box of Color

Imagine life in 1964. The rock and roll band named the Beatles had become an international sensation. And if you were watching them on television, it would probably have been in black and white! It wasn’t until 1965 that color TV became widely available. Celebrate Color TV Day and Global Beatles Day today!

Bake Parchment Day Cookies

People used to write on parchment, which was made from animal skins. Today is Parchment Day, but it’s meant to celebrate cellulose-based parchment paper in the kitchen. Line your pans and cookie sheets with parchment paper, for non-sticky, easy-clean baking. You can also use it to wrap your sandwiches instead of plastic baggies.

Half-Christmas Parfait

It’s Leon Day! That’s Noel, spelled backwards, because Christmas is exactly 6 months away. Some people who make their own Christmas ornaments or gifts, get started on them now. I’d rather celebrate Strawberry Parfait Day, with a creamy, strawberry-ee, delicious layered dessert! Serve it in a glass, so it looks as good as it tastes!

Sibling Celebrations

A high school in New York had many students who’d known each other their entire lives. That’s because their graduating Class of 2025, included 15 sets of twins! All of the twins were fraternal, not identical, so at least it didn’t make anyone think they were seeing double.

Beat the Heat

A heatwave is baking much of the United States, so take extra care to prevent heat stroke. Stay cool by dressing in lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothes. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, stay in the shade, and take frequent breaks in the water or an air-conditioned space. Most importantly, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Sense Everything

It’s Celebration Of The Senses Day. Use your sense of sight to study your fingerprints closely, then use your sense of touch to feel the rough surface of a sidewalk. Smell some fresh coffee, and taste how bitter it is. Then listen to your mom say, “Stop drinking my coffee!”

Treasured Trash

Are you tired of your furniture or clothes? Take your old stuff and repaint it, or add to it, until it makes you happy! It’s Upcycling Day! Look around to see what you can create out of old toilet paper rolls, jars and cans, and have a craft day. Turn trash into treasure!

This Fort Is Only for Fairies

Today is Fairy Day! You might think fairies are cute little creatures, but in Ireland, you don’t mess with the fairy folk. If you see a rock or a ring of trees and bushes in the middle of a field, leave it alone. It’s a fairy fort, and you don’t dare anger the fairies!

Three Rare Chicks Go Back to the Wild

Biologists believe there are only 11 blue-eyed ground doves, remaining in the wild. The incredibly rare birds are found only in Brazil, but an international team of bird conservationists joined forces, to hand-rear 3 baby chicks. They selected a few eggs from the wild, to ensure the babies hatched successfully and survived.

Drink Another Glass of Water

Happy Hydration Day! The human body is about 60% water, and it’s easy to lose it in the hot summertime. Dehydration can make you tired, dizzy, confused, grumpy, or give you a headache. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty, to grab a drink. Humans can survive 3 weeks without food, but only 4 days without water!
