Open the Door

Knock knock. Who’s there? Boo. Boo who? Aw, don’t cry! It’s just Tell A Knock Knock Joke Day! It’s also Doorbell Day, so should we be telling Ding Dong jokes instead? And when you go trick-or-treating, should you ring the doorbell, yell “Trick-or-treat,” or say “Knock knock”. I’m so confused!

Costumed Fun

Today we celebrate Halloween. Many kids go trick-or-treating, where you go door-to-door to show off your costume, and get rewarded with candy. Or, you could hand out the candy, and eat all your favorites. Some people like to set up spooky decorations, or scare themselves at haunted houses. Whatever you do, have fun safely!

Baby Rhino Has Lots of Energy

England’s Chester Zoo, welcomed a new baby rhinoceros. The rhino calf, born to mother Asha and father Beni, weighed 120 pounds at birth, and was running around only hours later. There are only 4,000 greater one-horned rhinos left in the wild. The public will vote to name the calf Thuli, Jiya, or Bahula.

Growing a Healthier Rooftop Garden

Scientists at Boston University, are turning fumes into fertilizer, for rooftop gardens. Air ventilators can pull carbon dioxide out of the building, and funnel it toward plants. In experiments, the spinach and corn near the CO2 exhaust vents, grew 4 times bigger. The plants also reduce heat, provide food, and clean the air.

Uncovering a Rocky Roman Road

Utility workers in England were digging in a field, when they discovered an old cobblestone road under the dirt. Experts determined that it was a Roman road, built 1,900 years ago. It’s the only example of its kind ever found in Britain, and archaeologists are excited to explore the area for more artifacts.

Scary Food

Today is Candy Corn Day. The yellow-white-and-orange candies were invented in the 18-hundreds. If you stack them up, they look like an ear of corn. Try the Turkey Dinner pack, with green bean, stuffing, and coffee flavors! Later, celebrate Haunted Refrigerator Night. Time to clean out the moldy leftovers hiding way in the back.
