Celebrate National Pasta Day with this fun fact: Kevin Cole holds the record for the Longest Spaghetti Nasal Ejection. He put a strand of spaghetti in his mouth, then blew it out his nostril 7 1/2 inches! He can also suck spaghetti in one nostril and pull it out the other, to floss his nose.

Dr Howard Tucker of Ohio, knows a thing or two about living a long life. He’s a world record holder, for being the oldest practicing doctor. Even though he’s 100 years old, he still works full time, with no plans to retire. He loves his job too much to quit.

Grocery Garden

A company called Schaduf, is helping customers in Egypt get the freshest vegetables possible, at the grocery store. They have a hydroponic fridge, where different types of lettuce are grown right in the store. Hydroponic gardens grow in water instead of soil. You can pick your own lettuce, with zero packaging or transportation needed.

Today is Learn A Word Day. Luckily, it’s also Dictionary Day, which is the best way to learn the meaning of a word. If you can’t think of a word to look up, just flip through the pages for one that sounds interesting, or search for Q- or X-words for your next Scrabble game.

Today is known as both Global Cat Day, and Feral Cat Day. Maybe it’s because if one feral, or wild, cat has kittens, and their kittens have kittens, and so on, in 9 years there would be 11,000,000 cats! Cats are awesome, but they would rapidly take over the world. Meow-za!

Earth Has Enough Food for Everyone

Today is World Food Day, created by the United Nations. This year’s theme is, “Leave no one behind.” During pandemics, droughts, and wars, many people have trouble getting enough to eat. Let’s appreciate the people who are making sure, no one goes hungry. Food is essential, and everyone deserves to eat.

A Powerful Electric Car

Students from Germany’s University of Stuttgart, set a world record with their electric car. The team of students, known as the GreenTeam, designed an electric vehicle that accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers-per-hour, in 1.46 seconds. That’s like the force astronauts experience, when their rocket re-enters the Earth’s atmosphere.

Mushroom Mania

Today is Mushroom Day. There are over 10,000 kinds of mushrooms, but only around 600 are edible. That means, if you see a mushroom in your yard, don’t eat it. It might be poisonous! Instead, choose a variety of mushrooms at the store, for your fungi feast. Save the wild mushrooms, for your photo album.

Today is Bridge Day, but it’s not really about bridges. It’s about BASE jumpers, the people who jump off of them for fun, using parachutes or wingsuits! BASE stands for Buildings, Antennas, Spans, (like bridges), and Earth, (like cliffs). It’s also I Love Yarn Day, if knitting is more your style!
