Robot Dog Guards Ancient City

The Pompeii Archaeological Park, in Italy, has a new helper. Spot, a dog-like robot developed by U.S. firm Boston Dynamics, roams the ancient ruins of the city, which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption nearly 2,000 years ago. Spot looks for dangerous tunnels dug by relic thieves, and locates other safety issues.

Ramadan Traditions

Friday night was the beginning of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of prayer and fasting. Most Muslims will fast from dawn until dusk each day, meaning no food or drink while the sun is shining. They celebrate a meal with family or friends at night. Some communities decorate with outdoor lights, like at Christmas.
