Animals Under the Sea

71% of the Earth is covered in water, and it’s full of animals. There are over 220,000 aquatic species that have been identified, but there could be 2,000,000 more undiscovered species. Today, on World Aquatic Animal Day, dream about all the unknown animals that humans have never seen, living deep in the ocean.

Today is Find A Rainbow Day. Rainbows in the sky are caused by reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water droplets. You can create your own rainbow on a sunny day by making a fine spray of water with a hose. Have a party when you find one; it’s also World Party Day!

Retired at 100

Betty Reid Soskin, has been working as a Park Ranger for over 15 years, at the Rosie the Riveter/ World War 2 Home Front National Historical Park. She decided it was finally time to retire, at age 100. Since she actually lived through World War 2, her personal stories, are like a living exhibit.

Teeny Tiny Car

Alex Orchin doesn’t worry about the price of gas, even though he doesn’t have an electric vehicle. His car is so small, it only takes 1.3 gallons of gas. The Peel P50 is only 53 inches long, which is almost 2 feet shorter than Alex. He drives around Wivelsfield England, at 23 miles-per-hour.

Get your pillows ready. It’s International Pillow Fight Day! Try not to bust open the pillow, or anyone’s head. Some cities even have a giant community pillow fight! It’s also Tag Day, so maybe you can make a new game, and tag people with pillows. Not it!

Today is DIY Day, which stands for Do It Yourself. You can learn just about anything from YouTube videos, from installing a toilet, to building a treehouse. One thing you might not want to do yourself, is walk on fire. It’s also Firewalk Day! Firewalking has been used in rituals and ceremonies, for 3000 years.

Invite a Ferret to Lunch

Today is Ferret Day. The popular pet is related to minks and weasels. They love to play! It’s also Peanut Butter And Jelly Day, as well as Children’s Book Day. Make a PB&J sandwich, and read your favorite kids books. Start with A Ferret Named Phil, by William Reimer, or Janet Nolan’s PB&J Hooray!

April Fools’ Day is over, so let me set the record straight. Some of yesterday’s news was a joke! Ramen noodle pizzas, bread-scented air freshener, and Butterfinger mayonnaise, don’t really exist. Did you get tricked by anyone? Look through today’s news, to get ideas for revenge pranks next year!

April Fools’ Games

If you play Pokemon GO, be sure to check out their April Fools’ 2-Oh-22 Event. The Ditto Pokemon will be spawning more frequently, but disguised as other Pokemon. Ditto is quite a prankster! There will also be special research tasks. Meanwhile, the Overwatch video game, has given all the characters googly-eyes for the day.
