If you love collecting Pokemon, but don’t want to capture, train, and battle them, you might enjoy New Pokemon Snap. The game, created for the Nintendo Switch, lets you explore islands, and photograph Pokemon. There are around 200 different Pokemon to locate. Observe them in their natural habitat, and get them to pose for you.

Some of the tiniest frogs in the world, are types of pumpkin toadlets. Their bright orange color makes them easy to spot, and warns predators that they’re poisonous. They also glow neon green, under ultraviolet light. A new pumpkin toadlet species was recently discovered, in the mountains of Brazil. Its name is Brachycephalus rotenbergae.

Tuba players rejoice. It’s Tuba Day! Practice outside, so everyone can enjoy it. Today is also Global Love Day, and entertaining others is one way, to show your love for everyone. While we’re at it, let’s spread the Global Love beyond Earth, since it’s Space Day as well. How many planets can you name?

Today is Free Comic Book Day! Many stores are excited to introduce people to the world of graphic novels, by giving them a free book. Find a participating comic book store near you. On your way, look for orange and black butterflies, because it’s Start Seeing Monarchs Day! Plant milkweed for them to eat.

Happy May Day! May 1st is often celebrated as the beginning of spring. Give people flowers, and dance around a May pole! In Hawaii, it’s also Lei Day. Leis are beautiful flower garlands you wear around your neck. But first, go to the principal’s office. No, you’re not in trouble! Just wish them Happy School Principals’ Day!

Fossils discovered in the Scottish Highlands, could be the oldest multicellular animal ever found. The organism, named Bicellum brasieri, lived 1,000,000,000 years ago, and has 2 different types of cells. It was only 3 hundredths of a millimeter across, and looked like a round blob, but it could bridge the evolutionary gap between single-celled and multi-celled creatures.

Jazz is a type of music, that originated in African-American communities in the South, in the late 18 hundreds. By 19 10, New Orleans Louisiana was known around the world, for its jazz. Musicians improvise together, playing what feels right in the moment. For International Jazz Day, explore how jazz has changed over the last 120 years.

Trees are awesome. They clean pollution out of the air, and produce oxygen for us to breathe. They are food and shelter for wildlife. Trees give us shade, flowers, fruit and nuts, and wood. Today is Arbor Day, created to encourage everyone to plant a tree. What kind of tree will you plant?
