Today is Make A Gift Day. Homemade gifts mean so much to people, and sometimes they cost you nothing except time! You could make a craft or knit a scarf, write a story or bake cookies. You could make a coupon book for free hugs, or shoveling the sidewalk. Make a gift of happiness!

When you get an assignment, that’s not due for 2 months, do you work on it a little every day, or leave it all until the last week? A study in New Zealand, gave people different deadlines to fill out a survey. Interestingly, the most people responded, when there was no deadline at all!

We already know, that sitting in one place all day, is bad for your body. Now we know how much exercise you need, to make up for it. After a full day of sitting, you’ll need at least 30-40 minutes of building up a sweat, to counteract it. Balance your video-game marathons with workouts.

Yesterday, Americans spent more than $14,000,000,000 shopping online for Cyber Monday. Today is meant to give something back! It’s Giving Tuesday, a day for global charity. Last year, generous people around the world donated more than 3.6 billion dollars, to help others! Donate time, money, or goods to your favorite cause.

The Harlem Globetrotters are a group of fantastic basketball players, known for their skills, antics, and trick shots. They created World Trick Shot Day, to inspire people to learn a few tricks of their own. If you don’t have a basketball hoop, you can celebrate with special trash trick shots, into the garbage can.

Today is National Mutt Day. Mixed-breed dogs are available for adoption in shelters everywhere, and they are awesome! When you adopt a mutt puppy, you never know how big they’ll grow; you get to be surprised! It’s also Fritters Day. Bits of dough stuffed with fruit, vegetables, or other fillings, are deep-fried and delicious!

Today is Walt Disney Day. He started out as an illustrator, introducing the world to Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Later, Disneyland opened, and Disney movies like Snow White and Mary Poppins, became popular. Now, the Disney corporation makes Star Wars movies, has its own TV channel, and works with National Geographic. They’re everywhere!

Do you have a drawer full of old cookie cutters in your kitchen? Today is Cookie Cutter Day, so roll out some cookie dough, and figure out what all the shapes are supposed to be. You could also use them with Play-Doh or clay, and make ornaments for gifts!

Today is Rosa Parks Day, commemorating the date she became a hero in the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks was arrested in 1955, for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus in Alabama. A statue in Montgomery Alabama, honors Rosa’s act of courage, and the fight for equality.

First comes Thanksgiving, then Black Friday. Well, today is Cyber Monday. It first started back in 2005, when people went back to work after the Thanksgiving holiday and shopped online using their fast internet connections. It’s the best day to buy gifts online because there are lots of special discounts. Did I tell you how much I love hats?
