Today is Drive-In Movie Day. Drive-in theaters let you enjoy the outdoors, while going to the movies! If you can’t find a drive-in, sit in the car, and project a movie on your garage door. It’s also Yo-Yo Day. After you get the hang of it, learn some tricks, like around the world.

Wearing flip-flops today at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, will get you a free Mango Monsoon smoothie between 2 and 7 pm. You can get the classic rubber sandals at a dollar store, and flip-flop inexpensively. The most entertaining shoes, are Coddies Fish Flops. Slide your feet into fish, and leave fish prints everywhere!

Roll out of bed, for Doughnut Day! Some stores, like Krispy Kreme and Duck Donuts are giving away free doughnuts, while other places like Dunkin’, will give you a doughnut if you buy a drink. Check your favorite doughnut shop for deals. You can also make easy donuts, with canned biscuit dough.

Today is World Environment Day. Protecting the environment is everyone’s job. Recycle, leave natural habitats for animals, don’t litter, and don’t pollute the water. Then start writing the lawmakers of your country, and demand that they force corporations to do the same. No one should be allowed to pollute our beautiful planet!

Today is Gingerbread Day! A moist gingerbread loaf is much different than the cookies used in gingerbread houses, but they have the same great flavor. You’d have a hard time eating the biggest gingerbread house. It was built in Texas in 2013 and was 60 feet long. You’d have to live in it instead!

Throw a meatless patty on the grill. It’s Veggie Burger Day! You can try an Impossible Burger at a restaurant if you want something that tastes like meat. It’s also Hot Air Balloon Day. You can make your own hot air balloon, take a ride, or just watch them float through the sky!

A parakeet in Lochardil Scotland, is up to no good. The bird has been pecking at the rubber on car window seals and windshield wipers, causing thousands of dollars’ worth of damage since February. The small green bird may be an escaped pet, or perhaps a loner from the wild parakeet population in England.

High school students in Nevada designed a blanket fort, big enough for the whole school to hang out in. The structure measured 14,103 square feet, which broke the world record for the largest blanket fort. Nobody’s living room was big enough, so they built it in the school gym. Who’s got the snacks?

Are you putting your sunblock on correctly? Chances are, you’re not using enough. Researchers found that most people only use 1/3 of the amount necessary, to properly protect their skin from the sun. While it will still offer some protection, you need a thick layer to truly block harmful rays.

Today is Corgi Day. The little dog with the short legs, was Queen Elizabeth’s favorite. She had more than 30 corgis during her lifetime. Do you remember the Million Corg March? Hundreds of adorable short-legged corgis wandered around Washington DC dressed in costumes, from coffee cups to crowns. I hope they have another one.
