Today is Ferret Day. The popular pet is related to minks and weasels. They love to play! It’s also Peanut Butter And Jelly Day, as well as Children’s Book Day. Make a PB&J sandwich, snuggle up with your pet, and read your favorite kids books! Start with A Ferret Named Phil, by William Reimer!

Starting today, he’ll be working with the Library of Congress, to create weekly videos teaching kids how to draw. There will also be activities to help you create your own characters. Goats Take Over the Town

The town of Llandudno, in Wales, has one group who is not obeying the stay at home orders. It’s a herd of goats! The wild Kashmiri goats have been wandering the deserted streets, and eating shrubs, flowers, and the grass in people’s yards. They’re providing free entertainment, with their lawn-mowing services!

Today is National One Cent Day, in honor of the penny. Gather all the pennies in the house, and count them. How high can you stack them, before they fall? It’s also Reading Is Funny Day. Maybe you should read, The Penny Pot. What’s your favorite silly book? Read it with someone today!

Start a Sourdough Starter

Have you ever baked bread? Since it’s Sourdough Bread Day, grow a sourdough starter. Look up the directions online. You need unbleached flour, water, and 5 minutes a day. After a week, you’ll have a pet lump of sourdough starter. If you feed it every week, you can use it to make sourdough bread forever!

It’s supposed to snow 2 feet today. Just kidding! It’s April Fools’ Day, a day to play good-natured pranks on people! Beware of the filling in donuts, ha-ha-ha! Today is also Fun Day! It’s fun to be a trickster, but so is playing games, creating art, building a fort, or doing whatever else you love!

Living Nutcracker

Muhammad Rashid is a martial artist with strong bones. He broke a world record, by smashing 256 walnuts open with his elbow, in one minute! Rashid also holds records, for breaking walnuts and coconuts with his head, as well as smashing cans with his elbow. That’s what I call a tough guy.

Unusual Times Call for Unusual Helmets

India has announced a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, like much of the world. Police officer Rajesh Babu, reminds people to stay home, with his helmet, made by artist B Gowtham. The helmet is shaped like a giant coronavirus cell. Babu tells travelers, “If you go out, I will come in.”

Recently, a survey asked 2000 Americans, what unusual food combinations they liked. Some surprising answers were peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches, ice cream on meatloaf, cookies dipped in guacamole, and popcorn with beans. For a fun family dinner, challenge each person to create a mixed-up dish. Everyone has to try at least one bite!
