It’s Quilting Day, so gather your fabric scraps, and start sewing! Then celebrate the International Day of Forests, by finding a secluded spot in a forest, then lying on your quilt and looking up at the trees. It’s also Memory Day, so don’t forget your way back out of the forest!

Today is World Poetry Day, and I just wrote that haiku: a poem with 3 lines, containing 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables. It’s also French Bread Day, and Common Courtesy Day. Use your manners, when you eat all the delicious bread!

Toilet paper is hard to find these days. Even players in video games, like Fallout 76, are stockpiling TP. But the shortage is causing clogged sewer pipes in real life. Paper towels, napkins, and flushable wipes, are clogging pumps and grinders in the cities’ sewage systems. Remember to only flush toilet paper. Trash the rest!

Disneyland has temporarily closed because of the coronavirus, ending one man’s 8-year streak. Jeff Reitz had visited Disneyland for 2995 days in a row! He believes he set a world record, but that wasn’t the reason he kept going. Jeff’s a die-hard Disney fan! He’s anxious to continue his daily visits once the park reopens.

It’s fun to watch penguins waddle around, but it’s not a bird you’ll find at your birdfeeder! Luckily, the Kansas City Zoo has a 24-hour live stream of their Penguin Plaza. The exhibit has 2 gentoo penguin chicks, and 8 macaroni penguin chicks, all born in December. Just look for KC Zoo Penguin Cam, on YouTube.

Today is the International Day Of Happiness, so give a big smile to anyone who looks grumpy! One way to make people happy, is to tell them a funny story. Since today is also World Storytelling Day, you can spend the whole day trading stories with your family. Make a video, for next year!

Yay! Spring has sprung in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, autumn has just begun. If you still have snow, you can celebrate Snowman Burning Day. It’s time to make way for the flowers and trees, that are beginning to bloom. It’s also Ravioli Day, so come in for a yummy dinner!

The National Park Service in the United States, has waived all its entrance fees. That means if you live near a National Park that’s still open, you can visit for free! The Visitor’s Centers will be closed, but not the trails. Keep your distance from other people, by taking a long walk in nature.

The world has shut down business as usual, and the Earth is getting a break from all the pollution. Many factories are closed, fewer people are driving, and the air is cleaner. In Venice Italy, where the city is full of canals, boat traffic is so light that swans and dolphins have come back!

Have you ever been to a Broadway show? Now’s your chance! Theaters are closed, so the performers will be entertaining viewers online instead, from their own living rooms. Watch mini-Broadway shows every afternoon on The Actors Fund YouTube channel, and look for Stars In The House. They’ll be singing all their hit songs!
