Some Jobs Stink

Police officers in Canada performed an incredible feat of bravery. They pulled a container off a skunk’s head! The poor little skunk had its head stuck in a plastic bottle, and was running around in circles. Constable David Edgar plucked the bottle off, and ran away quickly, successfully dodging the skunk’s horrible-smelling spray!

Pizza is Perfect

Did you know October is Pizza Month? You could have a different pizza every day. Try barbecue or pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce. Put banana or potato slices on it. Make a dessert pizza with maraschino cherries and chocolate sauce. Create individual crazy pizzas, and trade slices with your friends!

Light Up the Bathtub

Today is Bathtub Day, so skip your shower and take a relaxing bubble bath instead! You could also pamper your tub by giving it a good cleaning. It’s also Change A Light Day, also known as National LED Light Day. Light Emitting Diode bulbs are bright and energy efficient, and last a long time!

Cardboard Keeps Its Cool

The Seawater Greenhouse company has discovered a way to grow fruits and vegetables in the desert, using solar power and saltwater. Plants grow in cooling houses made of cardboard. Solar power pumps saltwater, to dampen the cardboard. The water evaporates and keeps the inside cool, and salt collects on the walls to be harvested.

Don’t Eat My Purse

Fruit leather is a fun way to eat dehydrated fruit puree, but the SAMARA fashion company is making actual fruit leather. Instead of using plastic to make fake leather, they’re using apple peels! Their first product is the Apple-Leather Mini Purse. The vegan leather is created from discarded apple skins from juice factories.

Badger Badger Badger

Have you ever seen a badger? There are American badgers, European badgers, and honey badgers among the different species. They can be found in many parts of North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Today is National Badger Day, so look up some pictures, and see which type looks the friendliest!

Today is Mad Hatter Day, so wear a crazy hat, and have fun acting silly! Maybe your hat should have spaghetti on it, because it’s also Noodle Day! What’s your favorite noodle shape? Don’t forget about Coaches Day. Many people volunteer their time to coach kids’ sports. Give them a special high-five thank you!

Cubist Art Sets a Record

Many people collaborated to set a new world record. Prince Harry’s face was the subject of a mosaic, designed by a Norwegian artist known as @cube-arting. The giant mural was made of 1,575 Rubik’s cubes. Speedcuber George Scholey taught 308 people to solve Rubik’s cubes, who became the most individual contributors to a Rubik’s Cube Mosaic.
