To celebrate Root Beer Float Day, A&W restaurants are giving them away! Originally called a black cow when it was first invented in 1893, the drink is simply root beer with vanilla ice cream. Drink it while giving your toes a little freedom in the sand, grass or water. It’s Wiggle Your Toes Day!

Do you have a sister? Be especially nice to her, because it’s Sisters’ Day. Today is American Family Day as well, so go ahead and be nice to them all. In fact, since it’s also Kids Day, and Friendship Day, I think this day will be filled with fun and smiles.

A truck in Arkansas made a gooey mess, when it spilled a load of nacho cheese. A collision caused cans to dump all over the place. The roadway was covered in yellow cheese, but unfortunately, no one brought any chips. The cheese was cleaned up, the road reopened without incident.

What color is at the top of a traffic signal? In the United States, it’s red, but it could be different in other countries. In Iceland, some lights have smiley faces on them! Some places have a yellow light to warn you, before the light turns green. International Traffic Light Day celebrates them all.

Here’s something interesting, for Sunflower Day. A sunflower’s face tilts toward the sun, as it moves across the sky throughout the day. Scientists have used nanotechnology to create solar panels, that copy the sunflower’s ability to follow the sun. Tiny stems on their experimental SunBOTs bend towards light, to absorb maximum energy!

Hey, what’s under there? Under where? That’s what I thought! It’s Underwear Day, so wear your most fun-derwear. It’s also Work Like A Dog Day. Working dogs, like sheep dogs, love their jobs and do them with enthusiasm. If you have a job to do today, get excited and wag your tail!

Today is Disc Golf Day. If you don’t have a disc golf course nearby, grab a frisbee and make your own targets to hit. Landing it in a birdbath, can be a hole-in-one. It’s also Mustard Day. Which do you like better; smooth yellow mustard, or coarse brown mustard full of crunchy mustard seeds?

Kimberly Winter can burp louder than you. The Maryland woman set the world record for the loudest female burp. Measured in a soundproof room, her belch hit107 decibels, the equivalent of a motorcycle at full throttle. She experiments with different food and drinks, to get the loudest burps. How loud can you burp?

International Clouded Leopard Day is a good time to learn more about these big cats. Clouded leopards are endangered, and native to parts of Asia. The Formosan clouded leopard was thought to be extinct until fairly recently. Their bodies can be 2 to 4 feet long, and they have very long canine teeth. They’re beautiful!

Today is Assistance Dogs Day. That could mean guide dogs, that are trained to lead blind and visually impaired humans, or hearing alert dogs to help the deaf. There are also seizure and medical alert dogs. Never pet or distract an assistance dog. They’re working! Thank you, poochies!
