You Shouldn’t Have Chased That Rabbit

A little dog in Devon England, mysteriously went missing. Everyone was keeping an eye out for Flossie, and she was discovered days later, deep down a rabbit hole in her neighbor’s yard. The poor poochie had been underground for 56 hours! Flossie was just fine, after being dug out with a spade.

Wave Hello to Ironbound

A 12-foot-long great white shark, nicknamed Ironbound, was spotted along the New Jersey shore. Researchers tagged the 1000-pound shark several years ago, and have been tracking his migration patterns. Ironbound has traveled 13,000 miles since he was first tagged. He’s now traveling north, to find good feeding grounds, and fatten up.

Butterscotch Buttons

Today is Hurray For Buttons Day! Zippers are quicker and Velcro is easy, but buttons can be beautiful or whimsical, and they’re definitely quieter. It’s also Butterscotch Brownie Day. Sometimes known as blondies, the yummy dessert is made with brown sugar, but no chocolate. Save one for me!

I’ll Always Remember Sockie

Today is Lost Sock Memorial Day. After taking one last look behind the dryer, have a memorial service to thank them and say goodbye. Use their left-behind mates for sock puppets, or dry-erase board cleaners. Or you could just wear mismatched socks. There’s no law saying socks have to match!

Goats Gallivanting Around the City

A pair of goats had a night out on the town, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The goats, named Jack and Jill, were captured by police, who corralled them into their squad cars with some difficulty. The goats only lived 3 blocks away, so they were returned home to keep them out of traffic.

Coming Home To a Flock of Birds

A couple in California returned home after a trip, to find hundreds of birds in their house. The swallows had apparently flown in through the chimney, and couldn’t find their way back out. The birds left once the doors and windows were opened, but the furniture, and everything else, was covered with bird poop.

Special Tools Help Bring Cave Art to Light

Some of the largest cave drawings in North America, have been recently found in Alabama. Archaeologists used hi-tech digital analysis, to see giant pictures, carved into the mud covered ceiling. A 10-foot-long rattlesnake slithers overhead, along with large figures which could represent spirits. The cave glyphs are over 2000 years old.

Your Feet Smell Like Irises

Are all your favorite socks dirty? Who cares! It’s No Socks Day! Make sure you have clean feet. Take a walk and try to find some iris flowers blooming, for Iris Day. It’s also Coconut Cream Pie Day, and Have A Coke Day. Sounds like a super sweet snack!

Today is Mother’s Day in much of the world. Did you forget? Quick, go make your mom a card! Thank you to all the women, who act as our mothers. It’s also Give Someone A Cupcake Day. That might be a good gift for Mom! Remember to clean up the mess after baking them.

Marble Head Was a Real Bargain

An antiques dealer in Texas, bought a marble sculpture of a head, for $35 at a Goodwill thrift store. She found out it was a 2000-year-old Roman relic, brought from Germany, by a World War 2 soldier. The sculpture will be returned to the German museum that owned it 100 years ago.
