Delightful Donkeys

Today is World Donkey Day. Male donkeys are called jacks, and a female is called a jenny. Wild donkeys are only found in North America, although domesticated donkeys live worldwide. Donkeys can hear other donkeys 60 miles away, with their long ears. They can remember donkeys they’ve met, and places they’ve visited, 25 years later!

Meteorologists use radar, to track incoming storms. Sometimes, the clouds showing up on radar, turn out to be something else. Last year, it was dragonflies. This week, a large mass spotted between Cuba and Florida, was actually a huge flock of migrating birds. If you see rain coming out of that cloud, take cover!

If you drive around Dearborn Michigan, you might be confused by the holiday light displays. The city invited its residents to decorate their houses, for the Ramadan Lighting Contest! Ramadan is a Muslim holy month, of prayer, fasting, and celebration. Since people can’t gather together to celebrate, decorating with lights helps cheer everyone up.

This Saturday, become part of a global birding community, for Global Big Day. Take 5 or 10 minutes to watch birds, and record your observations at eBird online, or using the eBird Mobile app. It will help the study of world bird populations. Prepare by studying photos of the types of birds, that live near you.

Let’s celebrate some of our favorite heroes. It’s National Nurses Week, and also Teacher Appreciation Week. Nurses work long hours in dangerous conditions, to take care of people who are sick. Teachers work long hours, to educate kids who may grow up to be nurses! A huge thank you, to all nurses and teachers!

David Rush never gets tired, of breaking world records. His latest stunts, used ping pong balls. One record was to bounce 5 balls, into 5 glasses, in 2.03 seconds. For the second record, his friend Jonathan Hannon threw ping pong balls at David, who caught 29 of them in 30 seconds, in shaving cream piled on his head!

Chicken Terrorizes Bank Customers

A bank in Louisiana, has an unwanted security guard. When people try to use the ATM to withdraw money, they’re getting attacked by a chicken! The aggressive bird chases walk-up customers, and even tries to get into cars. The chicken fled the scene before police arrived, and is wanted for assault and attempted burglary.

A 5-year-old boy in Utah, is going to be in big trouble. He wanted a Lamborghini, which is a sports car that costs over $200,000. Since his mom wouldn’t buy him one, he decided to drive to California, and buy it himself. He took her car, but was luckily, soon stopped by the police.
