“Oink Oink!” Said the Cow

Today is Encourage A Young Writer Day, so I’m encouraging you, yes you, to write a story! Use your imagination, to make it as silly, scary, or realistic as you like. It’s also Farm Animals Day, so you could add a talking cow, or a chicken that wears a tutu. Anything is possible!

Siblings Stick Together

Today is Siblings Day, so thank your brothers and sisters for being born! You might not always get along, but you can always love each other. It’s also International Safety Pin Day. In 1849, Walter Hunt sold the rights to his amazing little invention, the safety pin, to the W R Grace Company for only $400!

Please Stand Back

David Rush is making the most of his down-time, by setting another world record. His friend Jonathan Hannon, threw tennis balls at him, and he caught them in a basket on his back. Jonathan threw 108 balls in 1 minute, and David managed to catch 85 of them! I wonder how many hit him in the head.

Bigger Than Life and Action Packed

Friends quarantined in Brazil, found a way to play video games together. They projected a giant game of Street Fighter 2, onto another building. That way, they could play from their balconies, and get some fresh air. It was also free entertainment, for all the neighbors! Maybe they’ll project a movie next.

Have You Noticed More Animals?

Since people have been staying home in quarantine, more wild animals are showing up in cities. In Alberta Canada, a herd of deer walked down the middle of the road, and a moose is on the loose in Ontario. Fallow deer are taking over front lawns in London England. Animals love less traffic!

There’s an Alligator in Your Bed

Have you ever seen an octopus, floating around your living room? You can use a smartphone to see how it would look. Just search for an animal, like a tiger, on Google. If you see a button that says “View in 3D”, you can add the animal to your surroundings, and take a screenshot!

Malecksahchakahowie, What’s My News

Don’t call me Alexa today. Call me Malecksahchakahowie. It’s Name Yourself Day! Make a name tag with your new name on it so everyone else will know what to call you, too! It’s also Unicorn Day! Maybe your unicorn will name itself Frank, instead of Princess Rainbow Sparkle-Toes. Have a fun day!

Many Organisms Become World’s Longest Creature

There’s a long stringy sting-ee thingy, floating off the coast of Australia. Individual tentacled siphonophores, have formed a spiralling ribbon, with an outer ring that’s 154 feet long. The zooids clone themselves by the thousands, then join into one organism! The colony contains millions of individuals, passing nerve signals and nutrients to each other.

Sheep Have Some Fun

Playgrounds around the world are going unused, at least by children. But in Wales, a flock of sheep took advantage of the empty playground. They were climbing on the equipment, and spinning themselves on the merry-go-round! Maybe on their next visit, they’ll try the slide and the swings.

Mom, Can I Color Our House?

A family in Somerset England spent 6 hours, turning their home into a rainbow house. They colored in every brick, with sidewalk chalk! The Taylors wanted to cheer up the neighborhood. It was a fun way to spend the day outside, even though they had to stay quarantined at home.
