Big Dog Goes Shopping

A giant dog wandered into a Dollar General store, in Florida. Since he wasn’t bothering anyone, employees let him shop for a few hours. They finally had to call the police, when the dog wouldn’t leave at closing time. Police soon located Bentley’s human, who was grateful they’d found his lost dog.

Therizinosaur Scissorhands

A fossil found in Japan, is from a newly described species, called Paralitherizinosaurus japonicus. Researchers believe the dinosaur, which was a type of therizinosaur, had claws like swords. Instead of attacking prey, its finger-knives were used to slash vegetation, to find good plants to eat. It grew to 30-feet-long, and walked on 2 legs.

Sea Turtle Eggs Get a Helping Hand

Galveston Island State Park, in Texas, has good news. Their Sea Turtle Patrol found a nest, of 107 Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle eggs. The turtles are critically endangered, and the patrol hadn’t found a nest since 2012. The eggs were moved to an incubation center, to make sure they all hatch and survive.

Superworm Recycling Center

Styrofoam might make good packing material, but it’s hard to recycle. Most of it ends up in landfills, or floating in the ocean. Scientists have discovered superworms, which look like giant mealworms, like to eat styrofoam. They’re studying how superworms digest it, to develop a bio-recycling center, using bacterial enzymes resembling those in worms.
