Ancient Seeds Grow Fresh Fruit

Seeds from date palm trees that were alive 2000 years ago, are still able to grow today. Hundreds of seeds were found in caves in Israel. Scientists planted 32 of them, and 6 seeds successfully sprouted. The plants were named Adam, Boaz, Hannah, Jonah, Judith, and Uriel. Now they can learn more about ancient agricultural practices!

Animal Buddies

Peninsula Open Space Trust, recently shared a video of unusual animal friends in California. A playful-looking coyote is seen waiting for his pal, a badger. The adorable pals walk off through a tunnel. Although it looks like a scene from a movie, coyotes and badgers often hunt in pairs. They work well together!

Today is National Frozen Yogurt Day! T C B Y and 16 Handles will give you a free frozen yogurt today, and Yogurtland will give you one between 4 and 7 pm. Check your favorite frozen yogurt store, to see if they have any specials today. So much frozen yogurt, so little time!

Last week, police in Canada received a report of a child crying for help in the woods. They came out to investigate, and found out it had been a goat, that got his head stuck in the fence. The goat had already been rescued. He was just kidding around. Get it? Ha ha ha.

Crab Grabs and Runs

A woman took a video of a crab stealing her empty coffee cup, on Christmas Island. He scuttled away with it gripped in his claw, waving it in the air. Maybe he was doing his part to clean up the beach, or perhaps he just wanted a few drops of coffee!

There are some odd jobs in the world, and Hut-hunter is one of them! BeachHuts.com is a British website, that needs someone to travel the English coastline, reviewing all the beach huts. They’ll supply the hut-hunter with a campervan for the tour, while the hunter has to relax on the beach and photograph huts.

Butterflies in the Forecast

With the crazy temperatures some places have been experiencing, it makes you thankful for weather forecasts. Today is Weatherman’s Day, so thank a meteorologist for letting you know whether to wear snow boots or flip-flops! It’s also Western Monarch Day. Plant some milkweed, to help the beautiful butterflies survive their annual 3000 mile migration!

Sweet Treats

Today is World Nutella Day. Nutella is a spread made from cocoa and hazelnuts, that tastes yummy on bread. It’s also Chocolate Fondue Day, which is melted chocolate that you can dip everything in. I think I’ll eat strawberries, spread with Nutella and dunked in chocolate! Now what will I have for dessert.

Woman Finds Her Dog, Thanks to Beer

Motorworks Brewing in Florida, places photos of dogs on their beer cans. It helps dogs at the Manatee County animal shelter, find homes. While reading a story about the company, Monica Mathis recognized her dog Hazel, who had gone missing 3 years ago, before she moved 1700 miles away to Minnesota. They’ll soon be reunited!

Happy 90th, 70th, and 768,862

A couple in North Carolina, has had a little extra excitement lately. James and Maxine Hilliker, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this week, and James’s 90th birthday was last week. On his birthday, they collected a jackpot of over $760,000, from winning the lottery! They’ll spend some of it going on an anniversary cruise.
